Sussex Baseball Ready for Biggest Season Yet

The Sussex County Community College Baseball program is set to open the 2026 season with record-breaking excitement, depth, and expectations. With an expanded 54+ game schedule and three major road trips across North Carolina, Maryland, and South Carolina, the Skylanders are preparing for their most ambitious season yet.

"This schedule is going to test us early and often," said Head Coach Rom Mehmedi. "It's a chance for our guys to compete against top programs, grow through travel, and showcase what Sussex Baseball is all about."

Key Returners and Newcomers

The Skylanders return a strong core of veteran leaders who understand the program's standard and culture. Their experience, paired with an impressive group of newcomers, gives Sussex one of the most balanced and versatile rosters in program history under Coach Mehmedi. "This group has great balance," Mehmedi added. "We have experience up the middle, depth on the mound, and new players who can make an immediate impact."

Program Expectations

The 2026 Skylanders enter the season with a strong sense of purpose and focus. The expectation is clear compete for a Region XIX title and more, but the path to that success will be built through consistency and daily progress. The program's emphasis is simple: inning by inning, game by game, week by week. Every challenge on the schedule presents a chance to improve and grow as a team.
