Johnson Joins Sussex Coaching Staff

Sussex County Community College is proud to announce the addition of Hank Johnson to the Athletic Department coaching staff.  Hank will join the men's basketball program as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.

Johnson has over fifteen (15) years of experience that spans all levels of men's basketball programs; college, high school, AAU and middle school.   During the past three years he served as the head coach of Piscataway HS boy's JV basketball team where supported the team in winning two consecutive JV championships over St. Joseph High School (Metuchen NJ).

On the college level, he was an assistant coach for Georgian Court University where his work encompassed a wide range of responsibilities including team practice and game duties, organizing the team in community outreach, and providing support to ensure team members met required academic requirements.

As a high school assistant coach, he had the opportunity to work with the St. Joseph High School (SJHS) team, in Metuchen, NJ.  SJHS went on to win the Tournament of Champions during the 2015 season and produced the number one NBA draft pick.

Additionally, he coached at Manville High School and Piscataway Vo-tech where he helped develop and influence talented basketball players.  As an AAU coach, he was instrumental in the development of successful programs for two teams; NJABC and Team Attack.  The breath of his experience has given him the opportunity to develop expertise in scouting, conditioning and building team rapport.

He graduated from Rutgers College and has many years of experience in Tax and Accounting services.   He brings an in depth understanding of hard work, professionalism and personal dedication to the team.  He resides in Belle Mead, NJ with his wife and three children.
