'Landers Lacrosse Comes Up Short

The Sussex Lacrosse Skylanders headed back to The Proving Grounds in Conshohoken Pennsylvania and got hot a little too late in a 12-11 loss to Del Tech.

Sussex recieved goals from Nolan Waldron, Dom Falleni, and Matt Sciancalepore in the first half which was tied at 6-6.  The 'Landers offense struggled to connect in the third quarter heading into the final frame down 3 goals.  With 2:00 minutes remaining, Sussex woke up and went on a run, with goals from Grant Parker, Falleni, Sciancalepore and attackman Joe DeCeglia, a converted goalie, climbing within a goal at 12-11 with 40 ticks on the clock.  An all important ground ball off a ride by close defensman Matt Bruno allowed Sussex to call a timeout in their offensive end and have a shot to send the Region 19 contest into overtime. Sciancalepore's shot went wide, and a spent Sussex roster is now 1-2 on the season.

Freshman Goaltender Collin Miller finished the day with 13 saves. Sciancalepore added his second hat trick of the season, while Kittatinny midfielder Nolan Waldron went 2-1, Newton's Grant Parker had a goal and an assist, while DeCeglia found the back of the net for the first time this season.

Lenape Valley freshman Dom Falleni continues to impress adding 4 goals and 3 assists on the day.

The Skylanders will take on Mercer County Community College at 3:00 Wednesday March 24th.
