Stansfield Commits to Sussex Softball
Sussex Softball is proud to welcome Sydney Stansfield, a standout student-athlete from Lenape Valley Regional High School, to the Skylanders' 2025–2026 roster.
Sydney has been a two-sport varsity athlete since her sophomore year, competing in both girls tennis and softball, while also being an active member of the Science and Engineering Club. On the field, she brings a strong presence at both third base and shortstop, showcasing agility, quick decision-making, and a team-first mentality.
Off the field, Sydney is equally focused, planning to major in Biology at Sussex with aspirations to graduate, transfer to a four-year college, and eventually enter a pharmacy program. Her academic drive, paired with her athletic dedication, makes her a perfect fit for the mission and vision of Sussex Softball.
"I value the importance of family and staying connected to my roots, which is why I've chosen SCCC as my college," Sydney shared. "Its proximity to home not only allows me to maintain those vital relationships but also aligns perfectly with my educational aspirations, ensuring I can thrive academically while being close to friends and family."
Sydney also spoke about her excitement to continue her athletic journey:
"I am beyond excited to play at the next level after years of hard work and dedication, along with the support from my family. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the team aside from the amazing coaching staff, and I can't wait to start this next chapter!"
Head Coach Jamie Borger expressed her enthusiasm for the newest Skylander:
"Sydney is the type of student-athlete every coach wants to work with. She's driven, coachable, and brings a natural leadership quality that's hard to teach. We're excited to have her join our family and can't wait to see what she brings to the field and the classroom."
Welcome Home, Sydney!
Go Skylanders!
