Jamie Borger Concludes Tenure as Head Coach

Sussex Athletics has announced that Head Coach Jamie Borger will be stepping down from her position, concluding an impactful era for the program.

Over the past eight seasons, Borger has led the program with unwavering dedication to student-athlete development, competitive growth, and community engagement. While compiling an overall record of 73-157-1, her tenure is defined by far more than wins and losses—highlighted by meaningful progress both on the field and within the broader Sussex community.

Under Borger's leadership, the program celebrated numerous individual and team accomplishments, including:

  • 6 NJCAA Region XIX All-Region selections
  • 39 NJCAA Region XIX All-Academic honorees

Equally significant has been her commitment to student success beyond athletics. The program built a strong alumni network of 62 active former players, with 55 student-athletes successfully completing and graduating from their academic programs.

Borger also guided the program through a pivotal transition from NJCAA Division III to NJCAA Division II, positioning Sussex for elevated competition and long-term growth. During her tenure, the team qualified for the playoffs twice, while also expanding its footprint within the community.

Her leadership helped establish over 124 community sponsor relationships, along with:

  • 10 community clinics
  • 7 awareness games
  • 17 community service events

Additionally, continued improvements to Skylander Field have enhanced the experience for student-athletes and supporters alike.

Beyond the measurable achievements, Borger's legacy is rooted in the culture she built—one centered on accountability, resilience, and pride in representing Sussex Athletics. Her impact has shaped the experience of countless student-athletes and strengthened the foundation of the program for years to come.

"Coach Borger has been an integral part of our athletic department," said Athletic Director Todd Poltersdorf. "Her commitment to our student-athletes and the community has made a lasting difference, and we are grateful for her leadership."

A search for the program's next head coach is currently underway. Sussex Athletics is committed to identifying a leader who will build on this foundation and continue advancing the program's success.

Further updates on the search will be shared as they become available.
