The Sussex women's soccer team defeated Community College of Rhode Island 7-3 this past Saturday. Hayley Merriman and Karleigh Noll led the scoring for the Skylanders with 2 goals apiece. Sussex opened the scoring with a goal by Ellie Roberts who was sent through the Knight's defense by Elisa Campos. Regan Thiel then doubled the lead with a well taken penalty kick 15 minutes before the end of the first half. The second half saw a total of 8 goals with Sussex eventually pulling ahead to a 6-1 lead courtesy of goals from Hayley Merriman, Karleigh Noll, and Amber Whenham. CCRI would put 2 more goals in from penalty kicks, and Karleigh Noll capped off the game with her second goal of the game to complete the 7-3 scoreline.
Next up for the Skylanders is NJCAA Division III powerhouse Brookdale CC on Thursday, October 8.
