Maria Macedo, of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, has committed to playing for the Sussex women's soccer team for 2019 after signing her NJCAA Letter of Intent. Maria, who prefers to play as a central attacking midfielder, will join a talented recruiting class for Sussex. Head coach Frank Vernacchio is very excited with the new addition. "Maria is a fantastic player who comes from a great family. She is very technical and aggressive, and we are really impressed with her tempo of play and vision. She is going to add a lot to our team next year, and I cannot wait to start working with her and see what she achieves."
Assistant coach Mike Rath is also excited to work with Macedo. "I really can't wait to start working with Maria. I think that she will bring so much to our attack next season and her style of play will fit in well with our returning players. Having a player like Maria come in helps us a lot because we will be losing 9 players from this year's team. Our core of returning players is great, and the addition of Maria will help take us to the next level."
