Sussex Punches Ticket to Region Tournament

The Sussex Men's Soccer Team clinched a spot in the NJCAA Region XIX Tournament after a 1-1 tie with Brookdale Community College.  Linus Boettinger scored the only goal for the Skylanders in the second minute after Ryan Evan's shot was parried by the goalkeeper into his path. Brookdale tied the game on the 30 minute mark after their forward was sent through on goal. Both teams held each other at arms length for the majority of the match, with neither team looking to concede a goal that could lead to them dropping out of the postseason.  After the game, Head Coach Mike Rath was asked about the result. "We would have definitely loved to get the win today, but the primary job was to get to the postseason.  The boys did well with limiting chances after the equalizer, and the last 10 games have been really good for us going 6-2-2 after our 1-5 start.  We are looking forward to some second chances here in the postseason and the boys are definitely ready to push for a trophy now."

Sussex will learn of their fate on Wednesday, October 22 after the tournament seeding is announced with the first playoff game scheduled to be played on Wednesday, October 29.
