Sussex Falls to Ocean in Semi Finals

The Sussex Men's Soccer Team were defeated by Ocean County College 4-1 in the NJCAA DIII Region XIX Semi Final to end their postseason run.  Sussex's only goal came from an excellent free kick by Piero Almiron after Ocean had taken a commanding 3-0 lead.  Sussex battled hard in a competitive match, however Ocean's organization and attacking threat proved to be too much to overcome.  Sussex's season comes to an end after an impressive 6-2-2 record for the final 10 games of the regular season.  Head Coach Mike Rath was asked about his thoughts after the game.  "I'm still really proud of our guys.  We started the season off very poorly with a 1-5 record, losing to teams that should not have and not playing well as a team.  Other teams would have continued with trajectory, but these guys worked hard to turn it around and put us in position to have a chance at a Region Title.  They became stronger as the season went on and will continue to build and grow to prepare for next season.  There's a lot of talent and hunger with these players and they should be proud of the season for how we finished it, even though it wasn't the final result that we wanted."

The DIII Region XIX Finals will be played on Friday, October 31st and Saturday, November 1st at Ocean County College.
