The Sussex Women's Soccer Team defeated RCSJ-Cumberland 8-0 in the final game of the inaugural NJ Women's College Cup to claim the trophy with an undefeated record of 5-0. Sussex started the scoring with Bella Peluso driving a shot in off the underside of the crossbar in the sixth minute. Leah English added the second two minutes later after being sent through on goal by Candela Sancho. Sussex would score 6 goals in the first half to put them in cruise control for the rest of the game. Isabella Pelusp and Leah English both scored hat tricks and Abby Marra scored two goals as well.
Sussex finished the NJ Cup with wins over Mercer CCC, Essex CC, RCSJ-Gloucester, Ocean CC, and RCSJ-Cumberland with a total of 22 goals scored and only 3 goals conceded. Head Coach Mike Rath was delighted with the team, saying "We are really happy to win this cup, and to do it in the manner that we did. This team is putting in the work every day to bring this program back to where it was a couple seasons ago, and they fully deserve this achievement. Special thanks for Brian Rowan at RCSJ-Gloucester who put in the effort to create this in season tournament and add something extra to everyone's schedules. I am looking forward to this tournament growing each season and our girls showed great mentality to win it this year. Overall, I am really excited for this team to continue to grow and hopefully add more trophies this year!"
