The Sussex Men's Soccer Team edged out Union College on Saturday in a 1-0 win to close the gap to the playoff spot for the NJCAA Region XIX Tournament. Sussex just has to win one of their final two games against Brookdale CC and Bergen CC to clinch a playoff berth. Lawson Carr scored the game's only goal from an assist by Ryan Evans, in a physical, fast paced game. Head Coach Mike Rath was pleased with the performance of his players saying, "Overall, a really good result for us today. Union are a good team and we had to dig deep at times and work hard as a defensive unit to see this game out. The boys showed tremendous character today by doing everything they could to limit chances and also stay dangerous on the counter attack. We have two big games coming up with Brookdale and Bergen where we have to get a result, but the guys are playing with great confidence now and getting the job done. They have done an incredible job since the start if the season where we began with a 1-5 record, so to be in this position now is a testament to their work."
Next up for Sussex is an away trip to Brookdale CC.
